Bill Sevesi’s Dream
Nouvelle Zélande- 2010- 43
Réalisation : Ying L

Bill Sevesi, a musician from Tonga, had a dream to make the ukulele popular in New Zealand, this small musical instrument common to most of the islands in the Pacific. He succeeded and brought a Polynesian flavour to music in New Zealand. The film takes the ukulele’s current popularity as a pretext to draw together its instrumental and stylistic history, musical culture from the 1800s to country music or present-day pop via Tahitian or Hawaiian music.
