FIFO 2013: opening of the 10th festival on Tuesday morning!

The doors to the 10th Pacific International Documentary Film Festival will open officially on Tuesday 12th February 2013 at 8am in the FIFO Village which is taking place as usual at the Maison de la Culture – Te Fare Tauhiti Nui.

For the occasion, all stakeholders from the last decade (yes already!) will meet: jury, national and state authorities, as well as the event’s loyal partners and professionals from the whole of Oceania, without forgetting of course the many FIFO enthusiasts.

Details of FIFO’s opening ceremony:

The tone will be set from 8 in the morning…musically, with the traditional FIFO anthem which will enable Wallès KOTRA, chairman of the FIFO Association, to enthusiastically and warmly welcome the key figures present as well as the local and international festival goers discovering the event for the first time or return visitors. He will also present this year’s programme before giving the chairman of the jury his cue: Mr. Greg GERMAIN.

Representatives from the town of Papeete, the government and the state will take turns to speak and express their visions of the festival; the 10th FIFO will be officially declared open following these presentations!

Opening of FIFO 2013 will include screenings of 34 selected films in 3 rooms at the Maison de la Culture from 8am but not only that!

FIFO 2013 also includes:

·        no less than five free workshops for the public (the script writing workshop – this year dedicated to documentary – the audiovisual editing workshop, a Go-Pro shooting workshop, an interactive iBook creation workshop, and lastly a Stop-Motion workshop on Thursday 14th February).

·        the 5th Digital Encounters

·        and the 7th Pacific television conference

which will open at at 9am and 3pm respectively.
