This documentary follows Maori activist Tame Iti through seven dramatic years from the police ‘terrorist’ raids in the Urewera for which he was arrested and jailed, to the signing of what amounts to a peace treaty between Tame’s Ngai Tuhoe tribe and the Crown. It closes with an emotional apology from the Police Commissioner to the people of Ngai Tuhoe and Tame’s family. Tame’s story is set against the backdrop of his tribe’s story as it moves from nearly two hundreds years of war and grievance against the Crown to one of peace, partnership and reconciliation.
