Northern New Caledonia, August 2024. The Koniambo Nickel plant, a
flagship project of the kanak independence movement, shuts down
its furnaces and carries out massive layoffs. While awaiting a final
decision on the future of the plant, kanak miners fight to uphold the
legacy of thirty years of struggle and development on the land of
their ancestors.
